Knoxville Electric Vehicle Association

We are Knoxville’s leading non-profit dedicated to educating the public on the benefits of driving electric. Functioning as a regional chapter of the Electric Vehicle Association since 2010. Our monthly meetings and events are great places to come talk to daily EV drivers and have your questions answered as well as a community for EV enthusiasts. If you have never driven an EV we would love the opportunity to put you in the drivers seat at any of our meetings or various EVents.

We typically have a monthly meeting on the 2nd Saturday of every month at 11am.  We currently don’t have a perfect meeting place so be sure to check the upcoming events calendar below to see where we are planning on meeting next.

To stay in touch with us and know what’s going on with EVs in East TN, please enter your email address in the subscription box on the right and you will be put on our event announcement mailing list. We will only email you about upcoming monthly meetings or big events.

We also have a very active discussion email list where any of our members can send out interesting EV news and topics. This is also where we conduct a majority of our event planning. If you would like to join our discussion list please click here to add your email to our discussion list. Be sure to acknowledge the verification email that is sent to you first so that you don’t miss any of our emails! This discussion list is ran by Freelist and you can set it up to get every email or a daily/weekly digest if you would like.

Upcoming EVents

Here’s a quick snapshot of what we have going on in the next few months.

Oak Ridge Farmers Market 2024

April 20thst, 2024 8am-1pm

281 Broadway Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN 37830

Please come out to Jackson Square in Oak Ridge, TN and see the Knoxville Electric Vehicle Association at the Oak Ridge Farmers’ Market, hosted by East Tennessee FARM. We will have an Electric Vehicle on display and lots of information about Electric Vehicles and Driving Electric. While you are shopping the Market, stop by and see us if you are curious about EVs or considering an electric for your next vehicle purchase. We will have information available and years worth of daily use experience to share with you. What better way to celebrate Earth Month than learning about clean driving and shopping fresh farm-grown produce! Event listing is found here https://driveelectricearthmonth.org/event?eventid=4201

Spring Cars and Coffee 2024

April 21st, 2024, West Town Mall 8am-11am (get there by 6am!)

Harper Cars and Coffee at West Town Mall

We like to show everyone that attends that there is an alternative to all the gasoline vehicles on display so we try to have a good showing of EVs. Last years spring attendance was 15,000 people!

Let’s Fill up several rows with EVs!

We will be located near the Dillard’s entrance. We usually try to get there early at 5:00am to reserve our rows of parking. However, we advise anyone that wants to join us in our EV section to get there at or before 6:30 am as it becomes a mad house traffic jam at that time. They will not let you into our area after 8am. We suggest you enter the Montvue rd entrance as its easiest to get to our location. Just enter the Mall parking and turn left and follow it around to the Dillard’s entrance that faces Kingston Pike. Look for our green feather flag.

If you plan on attending, please Register to “Participate” here https://driveelectricearthmonth.org/event?eventid=4250  so we can maintain a car count to reserve spaces and it counts as a Drive Electric Earth Month Event.

Where: 7600 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919

When: By 6:30am you need to be parked near us, show goes from 8am-11am.

Need any more information please email Knoxville.EV.club@gmail.com

85% of all EV charging is done at home

Most EV sold today comes with a 110 volt charger. Some EVs come with a 240 volt charger. We recommend people install a 240 volt charger in their garage since the latest EVs have larger battery packs this will minimize the time it takes to charge your EV. Most people already have access to 240v in their garage as this is the typical voltage for clothes dryers.

3 cents a mile

The typical efficiency of electric vehicles is 3 miles a KWH. The average cost of a KWH of electricity in Tennessee is about 10 cents.  Simple math means you only pay 3.3 cents per mile. Even better news is that EV makers are pushing the efficiency to 4 miles or more per KWH thus making the cost even cheaper!
